Haha, wow I'm super lazy today. Rainy days Smile
I'm basically useless today, don't feel like doing anything - good thing I work for myself, hahaha.

My PC parts should start coming in tomorrow...
About time for a new pc build. Built my last in late '03 and its still running strong just not fast enough for me anymore.

Ya'll seen FAR CRY 2?
I loved the first one.. but the new one looks amazing!

Yep, the game.

click here to check out some videos

Game will be available for PC, 360 and PS3 in about 2weeks.
I am also looking forward to Red Alert 3... might try the new COD "World at war".

Figured I'll play a little more games and save money by not going out.
My gas budget needs to be cut in half. Less mileage on the evo Smile

We've already stopped going to movies.
DVD's only now for a couple of months. BlockBuster deals are great!
I always hated going to the movies, people are annoying and you pay to sit there and have them annoy you.

I know where you're coming from ... the wedding band is what really means more. But, remember that the engagement ring is what she's going to be showing off to her friends ...

Robb, I just OC'd my machine over the weekend. If I start spending more cash on a new machine Katie will kill me. I am getting a new 120mm case fan and a GPU heatsink/fan today, but thats it hardware wise.

Case is a P180 ... older one. Awesome case. All of the rails have rolled edges. Removable drive bays. Separated channel for PS.

Yeah, dual core processors and Xfire/SLI are nice.

I used to game a lot ... mainly CS:S, WoW and some strategy games. I still play a little CS and have just gotten in to racing sims. I picked up GTR2, Race 07 and GT Legends. I'll have Live for Speed soon. My Logitech Momo Race wheel just arrived the other day and I've been getting everything set up.

Kinda neat. I really like the Zalman design because of the way the copper piping is routed. It allows for more surface contact. I also really prefer the upright fans on CPU coolers (which yours has as well) because it keeps the air flowing in a straight line through the case.

For the most part, copper is preferred for cooling. Though, my graphics memory coolers from Zalman are aluminum. I will get copper ones for the 512 card if Fry's has them in stock.

I'm going to be in Alpharetta tonight ... anyone want to meet for dinner?

Case should arrive today from newegg.

Did an open run (everything hooked up with no case) last night, loving 64bit vista! (so far at least). I am able to run 6gb (3 x 2gb) sticks of ram but as soon as I add the 4th one for a total of 8gb the board gives me a "C1" error (memory error).

Eh, seems like that's the max amount that this board will accept for 1066mhz and 2.1V, since the board is design for 800mhz - but runs 6gb of 1066mhz fine.

Ordered an EVGA 3way SLI 780i Smile
I want to run all 8gb

Just get the VTA tuned as good as possible. Wait for the GM IAT and JDM MAP patch to be finished and run it.

Actually, I don't think you'll ever pass emissions w/ AEM because it doesn't have the same OBDII routines that the techs check for. It's not just a visual SES test ... they actually scan the car. I believe the AEM would return an error.

Robb, did you check prices at Fry's before ordering everything for your new rig? I was there Wednesday and noticed that some things were cheaper there than NewEgg ... mainly the GPU cooler I bought.

the one I linked earlier ... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118117

It was $24.99 at Fry's. That's about $27 w/ tax compared to $35.24 w/ shipping at NewEgg.

I also picked up a 120mm, BB, 100 cfm case fan for $12.99. Very competitive now that NewEgg doesn't have free shipping.

I've happy with Tigerdirect's service and pricing, did check around and well I got some great rebates on my gtx 260 and memory. We have the on in Duluth, but thats quite a drive.

Yep, that confirms my suspicions of AEM.

I bought Crysis last night.
If you haven't played it and like FPS then GO GET IT!

I'm getting 20-30FPS at 1900x1200 in medium settings w/ 4x anti-aliasing - looks SICK!
Need to get the another gtx-260 in SLI and see what she'll do.

Yeah ... I guess it depends on how far south you are. there is one in Alpharetta too ... that's where I went.

I'm not big on FPS. I played pretty far in to FEAR, but it honestly scared me a bit. lol. I'm not very good at FPS. I was okay at CS if I had a good team, but I was mediocre on my own.

I played Dirt on PS3 on Wednesday. That game is SICK! It has the best damage physics I've ever seen ... hands down. Realism is acceptable for an arcade style racer ... it's not like Tokyo Extreme, but not rFactor either. It's a good mix ... really fun.

The demo had 2 STi's against each other on a rally-x circuit (I guess that's what it's called .. where there are 2 lanes and they cross). Body panels pop off in the correct places ... glass, lenses, mirrors ... they all have independent damage characteristics. Yeah ... I'm not a great driver. lol.

I have dirt for the 360, its definitely a worthy purchase.
Haven't played it a whole lot, buts its amazing to look at.

I have COD 4, that I haven't even played yet. (I have it on PC and 360).
My buddy is basically addicted to COD4 on the 360, plays just about every evening for atleast an hour to two.

Sounds like me with the racing sims ... I've mainly been tweaking and learning the setup though. I spent about 6 hours with the overclocking the other night and didn't actually get too far with it. I couldn't drop the multiplier on the hyper transport and I coudl only bump the FSB by about 10% becasue of that. I might try to attack it again this weekend with the multiplier dropped on the HT and CPU.

BTW, with your setup, you could simply reduce the RAM speed in BIOS and run all 8gb of your RAM. That is a standard procedure for OCing anyway ...

I managed to run all 4 sticks of 2gb 1066mhz but it was at 800mhz but I figured I already paid to get 1066mhz and I'm most likely gonna fiddle with it to get it faster than that - so just swapped out the MB so I'm not unhappy in the long haul.

I need to order another gtx 260 Smile

999,996,251

Yeah, but if you plan to OC the processor it increases the memory speed ... so you generally have to bump down the memory speed and then OC the FSB to get the memory back up to speed. Here is an example ...

FSB: 200
CPU multiplier: 10x (x FSB = 2.0 ghz)
Memory Speed: 1000 (x FSB = 2.0 ghz)

FSB: 250
CPU multiplier: 8x (x FSB = 2.0 ghz)
Memory Speed: 800 (x FSB = 2.0 ghz)

Both are 2.0 ghz setups, the the second setup will be faster because of the higher FSB value. The FSB setting is the most important setting for speed.

But, if your new board will handle 8gb @ 1000 you may as well go that route.

On the side, I'm installing my new GPU cooler tonight and might snap some pics to post ... you should get some pics of your new rig too. I wanna see it.
