Ask your insurance company if they give a break for having MSF training.

Unless your neighbor is an MSF instructor, I would take the class. You don't know what bad habits he has developed where as the MSF training is by the book and teaches new riders as well as experianced riders how to safely operate their motorcycle.

I have been riding 38 years and take the MSF Experianced rider course every 4 years. I took the Instructor course in 05. Do the training, it will do you nothing but good!
