Q told me about a bike the other day ... '07 CBR600RR for $500. In an accident but only the plastics are damaged. The rider was killed in the accident and the family doesn't want the bike.

Great deal, but a sad situation. I can't bring myself to buy it.

whats the number?

i'll get it, fix it then sell it to you.

i do feel bad for the family but if you really think about it you are helping them out by buying the thing that brings back bad memories...

I told you, I can't afford a bike right now ... I could have afforded the CBR, but I'm honestly not sure I want it. It's just one of those things ... I grew up seeing cars that people died in and it's always freaked me out a little.

Anyone know if Engine Ice can be used as an additive for propylene glycol coolants? Or, if it would be logical to use in a car at all?

if there is gonna be a change it will be a slight change if at all,
your thermostat regulates the temp and if so its gonna open close at same temp.

so why put th stuff in when it will cool the engine at same temp?

if it has added additives and protects the radiator and inner parts then yes but other than that i dont see the point.

i mean i heard the stuff cools faster than the reg antifreeze. but then the stuff is not anti-freeze.

so you gonna flush it out on winter times?

I'm considering 1/3 engine Ice, 1/3 PG coolant and 1/3 distilled water. That's why I'm curious if it can be used as an additive.

And, the thermostat only controls when the coolant flows to the radiator, not the running temp. If the thermal properties are good enough the temp will be lower with the thermostat open and the fans off. The fans will come on later as well.

So, for best cooling:
Raise boiling point by increasing pressure
Open thermostat earlier
Increase thermal response of the coolant itself

We're gonna do a little (quite a little) road trip this coming weekend to Niagara Falls.
Aprox. 920miles (14hours) there. Leaving early Friday morning, shooting to atleast to get to Cincinnati or Cleveland, wander around there a bit, head up to Bufallo the next morning, maybe even start heading back, just basically explore as we go, no set plans Very Happy
