Daily Driver Audio Build...

Long story short: I kept my brother's car for him while he was in Iraq. He gave me a free 'canvas'! Anyways, the object of this build was Sound Quality and cleanness. The only requirements were that it had to siund good and not take up too much crucial trunk space. So, without further delay, I present to you:

Darxide's 2002 Ford Focus ZTS

Specs:
HU: Kenwood KVT719dvd
Front Stage: Polk db6501 (6.5" components)
Rear: Polk db651 (6.5" coaxials)
Front channel Amp: Kicker zx350.4
Sub Amp: Kicker zx 750.1
Sub: Resonant Engineering SE 12"
Wiring: Tsunami

Time to clean it up and lay some Fatmat.

Now for the doors:

The factory provided 6x8's. Not good enough for our SQ application, need at least some 6.5's.




I ran new wire to the speakers all around. No hacking of the factory harness!

Fatmat all in, time to put the interior back together and get started on the sub box!

Sub box was built and reinforced. I like to router my edges for a clean feel.

Not too shabby ... did you do the kick panels too?

Any idea how much weight was added with all the sound deadning?

I've been thinking of doing the sound mat thing when I get rid of the mouse fur interior trim and that horrible HORRIBLE carpet.

Don't get me wrong I know why its so thin and cheap but I'm looking for a little more civility in my DD.

i got the same speakers! the polk 6.5 components. they are ok.

not enought mid bass coming from mine for some reason...??

Weight from 150 cu ft of sound deadening was only 31 lbs!!! Well worth it!!!!



Matt, no, I didn't build the kickpanels, just ordered some prefab. They worked out great and saved me time and money.



Joey, where is your crossover set at for the polks?

theres 3 settings
-3db, 0db, +3db

i got the fronts set at 0.

and the rear set at -3 i need to set it the same as the fronts but im too lazy and its kinda in the hard spot to get to...

No, I meant on your amp. Are you using a high pass crossover?

the amp i got is the alpine 4 ch 90w rms/ch. MRP-F550.
i got them set at 75hz front and rear.

bass eq - off
Low filter, High filter, or off - i have it set to off.
( i had it on high filter but changed it today to off position)

Run them both with the high pass filter on. Change the front crossover freq. to around 50hz and the rear can stay at 75hz.

Do you have a sub?
