I just wanted to let you guys know about a part that's about to be released. I personally helped design and test it and it does make power. Its an open dump for the stock turbo/wastegate.
This part helps reduce backpressure in the exhaust stream by separating the wastegate flow from the main exhaust flow. This allows the turbine to be more efficient which leads to lower charge air temps and more boost potential.
the only side effect is that at WOT it makes the car sound mean as hell ...
Here is a DLL graph showing the potential gains ...
This testing was done on a IX MR with the basic bolt ons ... 3" exhaust, intake pipe and open filter, flash and Greddy EBC.
They went through 4 prototypes before we found the gains we knew were there. This was achieved using a 3" pipe for the turbine outlet to get a nice, smooth flow from the turbine. The piece works with the stock donut gasket and most all aftermarket downpipes ... even the stock downpipe.
There is a
thread on EvoM that has lots more info. I made some technical posts there that go more in depth about why and how this part works and I feel that it's worth the read.
Anyway, here are some vids of the part in action ...
