| Got a question for everyone ... I need to choose what route to take with my wheels. I just got the bronze Rota Torques from RRIX and I'm currently driving on the SE BBS MR wheels. I need one set to be dedicated to auto-x/track wheels and the other only for daily driving. These are my considerations ... 1) I love how the BBS wheels look and I don't care if lots of people have them. 2) My BBSs are slightly damaged and need to be refinished (I don't have to pay for this ... tire shop is covering the repairs). 3) Bronze on GG is a love/hate thing ... I like the look but my wife hates it. DD on the Torques will likely involve refinishing them in black/red lip or polished/red lip. 4) I don't care if the bronze looks odd for dedicated auto-x/track wheels ... race cars are supposed to break the rules. 5) I was told that the center caps don't fit the Rotas, so I'd be daily driving with "my nuts showing." I like the look ... some people don't. 6) BBSs are lighter and stronger. Lighter is good for racing and stronger is better for DD. It could go either way. What would you guys do? For reference, here is a GG on bronze P45Rs ... Bronze IX stockers on GG ... Quite similar to the Torques but a little brighter. My BBS SE Wheels ... | |

| No thoughts?
I'm heavily considering just going with the Torques for daily driving to get the weight benefit of the forged BBSs for racing. I'd just leave them bronze ... I haven't seen home painted wheels that I've liked honestly. I'm afraid I'd screw it up.

| Thanks Trae. I'm not sure I'll even refinish them now ... I'm going to rotate my tires soon and I plan to mount one of the Rotas and see how the color looks. I've got a feeling it will look good.
Katie is the one who talked me out of bronze anyway ... I originally wanted bronze P45Rs but she didn't like them. She's fine with it now after seeing the wheels in person.

light + forged = less unsprung weight and no surprizes when you need it the least, ie. at the apex of a turn and the center hub collapses. Heavier and cast = easier to fix when dinged on potholes, curbs, little old ladies. Race the Germans and profile the Japanese.

| BTW, got tires on the Rotas on Saturday. I don't mind the bronze on the GG. The BBS do look better on the car, but the Rotas give it a nice custom look. I don't think I'd like a color other than bronze any better ...
Thanks for the input guys.

| Not great pics to show the color, but you can get the general idea ... BTW, i dropped it off at the tire place yesterday to have them re-balanced since they only balanced the inside initially. They managed to let the socket scar all for wheels in at least 5 places each around the lug areas. I expected a few scratches, but not every last wheel and every lug. The funny thing is that they actually used a torque wrench to remove and tighten the lugs. I can only assume that the socket was either the wrong size or just worn out. | |
